Tour Itinerary
Your Inca Trail Day by Day:
Day 1: Cusco - Chilca - Wayllabamba
Our guide will pick you up from the hostel in Cusco very early in the morning. We travel by bus to the km. 82 point to begin our trek along the Inca Trail.
After about three hours walking we stop for an hour lunch then continue the trail to our first camp at Wayllabamba. On the way there'll be a guided tour of the archaeological complex of Llactapata. Finally, we have dinner and stay the night in tents under the Andean sky.
Day 2: Wayllabamba - Warmiwanusca - Pacaymayo
After breakfast we tackle the toughest part of the trail - a three-hour hike through different microclimates and eventually to the first pass, known as Warmiwanusca or Dead Woman's Pass, at about 4,200m high. This is highest point of the Inca Trail and here you'll have time to take a well-earned rest and take in the unbelievable panoramic view.
Here you'll experience tremendous mixed feelings of achievement, relief and pride! After lunch we continue the trip by walking down to Pacaymayo where we camp and have dinner.
Day 3: Pacaymayo - Puyhu Patamarka - WinayHuayna
After breakfast we descend to the second most important pass of the trail - at 3,850m altitude - and take a guided visit to the archaeological complex of Runkurakay and the Inca citadel of Sayacmarca. Afterwards we continue our trek to Puyhu Patamarka (Cloud-Level Town), another important archaeological monument, where lunch is served.
When we finished eating, we continue walking to WinayHuayna (Forever Young) for a guided visit to this impressive archaeological complex set in a spectacular setting. A short walk from here, we arrive at our second campsite and have dinner.
Day 4: WinayHuayna - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Today we have a very early start in order to arrive in time for sunrise at Machu Picchu. After a one-hour walk through the forest we reach Inti Punku (The Sun Gate) which is the entrance to our final stop, Machu Picchu. From here you have the most impressive panoramic view of the citadel!
At Machu Picchu we have a three-hour guided tour around the citadel, visiting the main sites and monuments. After the tour you have free time to wander around. Later, we meet up with the rest of the group to drive by bus down to Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon we catch the train back to Cusco (or until Ollantaytambo, where we change to a bus in order to arrive in Cusco).
Remember, only 1000 people a month are allowed on the trail, so you must book your Inca adventure at least three weeks in advance!
